Special to AG-IP News Agency

AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), is invited by the UN-Habitat Regional Office for the Arab States at their post-COVID 19 regional retreats in Cairo as keynote speaker, on September 1, 2021.

The invitation is based on the long-standing cooperation following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UN-Habitat and Talal Abu Ghazaleh Information Technology International (TAGITI) in the field of innovative solutions to meet the many post COVID challenges facing Arab nations including recovery, climate change, and other issues relating to human settlements in the region.

The event will be attended by many distinguished personalities from across the region including heads of states who will discuss the development challenges and opportunities, including innovative solutions to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established by the United Nations. The SDG’s represent an urgent call for action by all countries, in a global partnership, to achieve peace and prosperity. The SDG goals were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of ‘The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.

Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh participated in the formulation of the SDG’s in his capacity as Chair of UN Global Compact and UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development. He continues to be a strong proponent of sustainable urbanization through his work as ‘Chair of the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization’ (CSU) in New York that works in cooperation with relevant United Nations agencies in urban cities and centers around the world. He had also written a book titled “The Inevitable Digital Future: A World of Smart Cities”, in which he discusses sustainable urbanization through smart cities with the aim of benefiting from Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and other Industry 4.0 technologies, to develop smart, sustainable cities for the future.
