RIYADH - During the meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the conclusion and adoption of the Design Law Treaty held on the 9th of October 2023, the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) agreed to host the diplomatic conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to the official website of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).

The Diplomatic Conference aims to host the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the adoption of the Design Law Treaty (DLT), where the Treaty will be named after the city hosting the Conference.

The DLT establishes a modern international framework for harmonizing formalities for industrial design registration by standardizing its procedures among States Parties and assists applicants to obtain design protection under each of the requirements of the Treaty, including details of the application, representations of industrial design, date of filing and publication.
