LOS ANGELES – The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is extending the Operational Design Phase (ODP) Community Consultation Survey to October 11, 2024, to facilitate research to better understand and capture lessons-learned from the completed ODP processes, a press release stated by ICANN.

The survey, announced on September 9, 2024, is intended to determine whether the ODP provided the necessary information to facilitate the Board's decision on the operational impact of implementing a set of policy recommendations by providing relevant information. It includes questions related to the objectives of the ODP, if outreach efforts were sufficient to inform the community, and overall satisfaction with the ODP.

Community input will help ICANN identify opportunities for continuous improvement regarding ODP objectives and related mechanisms in the policy lifecycle to fulfill the needs of the Board, community, and org. Survey responses, along with data previously collected from the ICANN Board, community, and org, will be summarized and presented in a report intended to inform how the lessons learned from the ODP might be incorporated into the Consensus Policy Implementation Framework.
