CANBERRA - IP Australia has been recognized as one of the world’s most innovative intellectual property (IP) agencies, ranking 3rd globally according to World Trademark Review (WTR), according to the official website of IP Australia. 

In WTR’s newly released report, IP Office Innovation Ranking 2024, IP Australia is described as, “blazing a trail” when it comes to AI. 

WTR’s annual survey ranked 50 IP offices around the globe, based on metrics including the effectiveness of web tools, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and cooperation with customs officials. 

WTR noted our successful roll-out of TM Checker, a free, AI-assisted tool to simplify the process of checking the potential registrability of a trademark.  

IP Australia's innovation in AI-powered tools including the Trademark International Classification Service (TMICS) and the Trademark Precedent Identification (TMPI) tool, and its work in exploring the potential impact of generative AI on our operations was also acknowledged in the rankings. 

IP Australia was also praised for our improved digital capabilities and expansion of its application programming interfaces (APIs), which help businesses large and small to integrate our APIs into their system’s software.
