LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers announces that ICANN Ombudsman, Herb Waye, has informed the Board of his resignation. Waye’s last day will be September 30, 2023, according to the official website of ICANN.

“Herb has been an important member of the Office of the Ombuds for more than 16 years, first serving Adjunct Ombuds for a decade before taking on the role of ICANN Ombudsman in 2016,” said Tripti Sinha, Chair of the ICANN Board. “On behalf of the Board, I’d like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to Herb for his many contributions over the years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

The search for Waye’s successor will begin immediately.

The Office of the Ombudsman is a core pillar of ICANN accountability. The Ombudsman is an independent, impartial and neutral resource that acts as an informal dispute resolution office for the ICANN community, who may wish to lodge a complaint involving the ICANN Board, staff or supporting organizations. The purpose of the office is to ensure that the members of the ICANN community have been treated fairly.
