LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organization (org) announced in a press release that it will host two webinars to showcase early development of the Registration Data Request Service (formerly known as the WHOIS Disclosure System).

ICANN org is hosting these webinars to provide an update on the progress made in the development of the service, which will be used by registrars and requestors of nonpublic generic top-level domain (gTLD) registration data. The webinars will also give participants an opportunity to ask questions related to the development of the service. All ICANN-accredited registrars, ICANN community members, and other parties who are interested in learning more about the service are encouraged to join.

The Registration Data Request Service will streamline the process for submitting and evaluating requests for access to nonpublic gTLD registration data through the use of a single platform. The service will connect requestors seeking nonpublic data with the relevant ICANN-accredited registrars for gTLD domain names who participate in the service.

The operation of the service is intended to gather usage and demand data that can inform the ICANN Board's consideration of the consensus policy recommendations related to a System for Standardized Access/Disclosure, and ongoing consultations with the Generic Names Supporting Organization Council.

The Registration Data Request Service is currently being developed by ICANN org with the aim to launch in November 2023.
