During the visit, attended by Mr. Burhan Al Ashkar, representative of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for culture and media in Lebanon, Ms. Mervat El Nahas, advisor of the premier, and Ms. Nora Al-Murabi, communication officer of the digital transformation and governance network, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh briefed Mr. Mikati on the petition submitted to the US Administration for the lifting of education sanctions against Syria, considering the right to education as a fundamental human right that shouldn’t be subject to any kind of sanctions.

He delivered to Mr. Mikati a written report that includes the projects and efforts conducted by TAG.Global to serve Lebanon in 2022, particularly in the field of digital transformation, noting that the transformation process requires three essential elements to be carried out: digital software, communication tools and internet line.

He also reviewed some of the obstacles that hinder the project particularly the availability of a special internet line; which he pledged to provide at his personal expense free of charge to all the knowledge stations that TAG-Global had established in Lebanon.

Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced that the special production lines for manufacturing technological devices in Lebanon have been delivered and will be built at the Lebanese University headquarters to start manufacturing laptops, tablets and smartphones, marking the first national production of its kind in the country.

It is worth noting that a new laptop at cost price has been designed to be manufactured in Lebanon under the slogan ‘Made in Lebanon’ to serve digital transformation process in Lebanon.

For his part, President Mikati applauded the initiatives and projects led by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh in Lebanon amid the difficult times the country is passing through, affirming the readiness of the government to overcome any obstacles that encounter such projects and its eagerness to implement the digital transformation strategy as soon as possible.
