LOS ANGELES - Both the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) published their unaudited financial results for the financial year ending 30 June 2022 (FY22), according to the official website of ICANN.

FY22 Highlights

The ICANN organization's (org's) financial health remains strong as it has been for the past several years. Funding remains stable with modest year-over-year growth. Expenses were slightly higher than the prior year primarily due to costs for ICANN74.

• ICANN Operations funding was US$150 million, which was US$5 million higher than the budget. Funding growth was primarily due to higher than budgeted transaction fees as well as fixed fees from a higher than budgeted number of contracted parties.
• ICANN Operations expenses were US$125 million, which was US$18 million lower than budget. Expenses were lower than budget primarily due to holding two ICANN Public Meetings virtually instead of in person, limited travel caused by travel restrictions, and lower than planned headcount.
• New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Program 2012 Round expenses were US$5 million. To process the remaining 2012 new gTLD applications in FY22, ICANN org incurred US$5 million in operating expenses, which consisted of risk costs, evaluation processing, and program administration expenses (including ICANN staff support).
• New gTLD Subsequent Procedures (SubPro) Operational Design Phase (ODP) expenses were US$2 million. The SubPro ODP commenced in January 2022 and expenses consisted primarily of personnel expenses and shared services support allocations (more reporting can be found on the SubPro ODP page).
• Total ICANN Funds Under Management, which includes all cash on hand and in investments, totaled US$506 million by the end of the fiscal year, a decrease of US$14 million since the beginning of the fiscal year. The balance decreased primarily due to investment declines in the Reserve Fund and operational expenses for the New gTLD Program 2012 Round.
