Special to AG-IP-News Agency

AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Information Technology International (TAGITI), The Licensing Executives Society International (LES-AC) and The Arab Intellectual Property, Mediation, and Arbitration Society (AIPMAS) members of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), had all participated in the activities held by the BITTCOIN-JO project in Italy, Sweden and Jordan.

TAGITI, LES-AC and AIPMAS participation comes in line with their role in the implementation of the BITTCOIN-JO project; which was initiated in February 2019, funded by the Erasmus+ Program and supported by the European Union.

The BITTCOIN-JO project aims at establishing the Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) at higher education institutions in Jordan, and is implemented by Yarmouk University in collaboration with 12 academic and industrial partners from Jordan and Europe. The Offices aim to support university students and academic staff to transform their creative ideas and the results of their scientific research into marketable knowledge and usable products, by creating startups, patent registration, and protecting their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

Commenting on the participation of TAGITI, LES-AC and AIPMAS in the various activities of the BITTCOIN-JO project, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of TAG.Global, stated that ‘our participation in implementing the BITTCOIN-JO project comes in line with the TAG.Global’s policy in supporting university students and faculty members to transform their creative ideas and the results of scientific research into marketable and usable knowledge products.’ A goal, according to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, that could be implemented through establishing start-ups, creating inventions, filing patents, and protecting intellectual property rights. He further affirmed TAG.Global’s eagerness to contribute, in various ways, to transforming Jordan into a knowledge-based society.

In Italy, representatives of TAGITI, LES-AC and AIPMAS took part in a workshop held by the University of L’Aquila (UnivAQ), where participants discussed several topics which effectively contribute to the project's progress. The topics included the Italian spin-off legislation, the UnivAQ spinoff regulation, the role of the UnivAQ Spinoff Commission, and the Italian legislation and comparison with Jordanian legislation / Internal procedure for filing patent applications and services offered by the Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs). That is in addition to the strategies and tools for the valorization of the patent portfolio, and the ProMiSE Project.

Moreover, TAGITI, LES-AC and AIPMAS participated in the Final Dissemination Conference held by BITTCOIN-JO in Irbid, Jordan, as a continuation of the previously-held midterm conference. They reviewed the BITTCOIN-JO project activities at the Jordanian universities, and outlined the technology transfer model and Jordan’s TTO experiences and best practices.

The BITTCOIN-JO project’s activities were concluded in Sweden by joining the Mälardalens University’s workshop, which included a presentation on the University’s Software Engineering activities within the project. It also included different field visits for partners.

It is worth mentioning that the BITTCOIN-JO project includes partners from Yarmouk University, University of Petra, German Jordanian University, AlHussein Technical University, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Information Technology International,  Licensing Executives Society - Arab Countries, and Arab Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Society. That is in addition to the European partners including Professional Start, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, University of L'Aquila, Malardalen University and University of Castilla-La Mancha.
