WASHINGTON - US Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC) Chairman of the Board Raymond F Kerins Jr., Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Bayer USA, issued the following statement regarding President’s Trump’s memorandum on combating trafficking in counterfeit and pirated goods:

“Counterfeit products harm people, undermine the economy, and threaten our national security. We welcome President Trump’s focus on the issue of rampant counterfeit goods found online and new enforcement actions to reduce counterfeits in small parcel shipments. An effective anti-counterfeiting strategy will support jobs, foster innovation, and protect American families. It will also require collaboration between industry and law enforcement, and we look forward to working together to prevent counterfeit goods from crossing our borders and to developing new recommendations to keep consumers safe.”

The Chamber’s Global Innovation Policy Center is working around the world to champion innovation and creativity through intellectual property standards that create jobs, save lives, advance global economic and cultural prosperity, and generate breakthrough solutions to global challenges.
