LOS ANGELES – The Board of Directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that it has voted this week to reaffirm the "Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data" for an additional 90 days, a press release by the Corporation stated.

Under the procedures for adopting Temporary Policies outlined in the Registry Agreement and Registrar Accreditation Agreement, the Board must reaffirm the adoption every 90 days, and may continue to do so for no more than a year.

The Temporary Specification was originally approved by the Board on 17 May 2018, and was reaffirmed by the Board on 21 August 2018 and 9 November 2018. The Temporary Specification establishes temporary requirements for how ICANN and its contracted parties will comply with existing ICANN contractual requirements and community-developed policies in relation to the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
