AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh commended the efforts behind the first Amman Opera Festival which was held under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Muna Al-Hussein at the Roman Theatre in Downtown Amman.
The Festival celebrated the immortal work of the world renowned Opera, La Traviata or "The Fallen Woman" by Giuseppe Verdi which was first performed in 1853 at the La Fenice Opera House in Venice.

"This is the ninth "La Traviata" I attend, which is one of the most important works of the Italian opera composer Verdi and one of the closest to my heart. I have attended La Traviata in various cities around the globe performed by international performers and I can easily state that the level of Amman Opera Festival is similar to the ones I watched around the world especially the excellent and inspiring voice of Zeina Barhoum," Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra), said.

He added:" The support and patronage of HRH Princess Muna Al-Hussein played a big role in the success of the Festival especially that it was held here in Jordan at the 2000-year-old Roman Amphitheater in the great Downtown of the city of Amman."

Nothing ignites Abu-Ghazaleh's senses except music, his passion for music in unmatched and intact and in 2013 he received a royal request by Her Majesty Queen Noor Al-Hussein to revive the Amman Symphony Orchestra, a mission he passionately accepted. Today, the Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra), a non-profit organization, is attributed for spreading awareness about classical music and enriching the talent of Jordanian musicians through various global and local events.

As the patron of the Freunde der Salzburger Festspâele,  Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra,  and L’Association pour le Rayonnement de l’Opéra National de Paris in addition to others, Abu-Ghazaleh's world of music can only be described as influential and inspirational.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has recently launched the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business and Culture Radio Station 102.7. (TAG-BC.FM) which broadcasts classical music and cultural news.

La Traviata witnessed Barhoum playing the lead role of Violetta, alongside Andres Veramendi as Alfredo, Simon Svitok as Germont and Jordanian Tenor Ady Naber as Gastone. They were accompanied by the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra featuring musicians from the well renowned Opera House, La Scala, as well as musicians from Jordan and a choir from the Batumi Opera House in Georgia led by conductor Lorenzo Tazzieri.

La Traviata's production in Jordan was the first of its kind in the Arab world in a Roman open air theatre.
