SAN JOSE, CA - Tilera Corporation, the leader in high-performance, power-efficient computing, announced in a press release that it has amassed more than 100 patent and intellectual property (IP) claims filings covering a range of technologies related to the company's manycore processors and "un-core" advancements, affording valuable IP protections to its revolutionary technology. Tilera has overcome many of the key roadblocks to scalable computing through its innovations in mesh interconnect, distributed coherent caching, integrated I/O and power management, as well as manycore software and debug innovations.

Tilera's patent portfolio encompasses system-on-a-chip (SoC) architecture, multicore software and debug, physical design, 3D integrated chip design, cache coherence and high-performance I/O, among other technologies. The most recent set of patents have been in the areas of global cache coherence and 3D multicore integrated circuit design. The company also has foreign filings for its patents in China, India and the European Union.

"Tilera has a proven track record of leading-edge innovation in processor performance, scalability and power efficiency. This innovation enables our customers to deliver best-in-class products based on our manycore SoCs," said Matthew Mattina, CTO, Tilera. "We're proud of our expanding patent portfolio, which is a key element to our differentiation in the marketplace."

"Tilera's engineering talent is one of our strongest assets," said Devesh Garg, CEO, Tilera. "Over 70 percent of our team are engineers with 40 percent possessing advanced degrees. Furthermore, our team was recognized by UBM/EETimes as Best Design Team of the Year in 2012 by the prestigious UBM Electronics ACE Awards competition. Crossing the 100-patent milestone is a testament to the innovation, differentiated IP, and execution that our team has created as the leader in manycore processing solutions."

The recently launched TILE-IQ™ initiative leverages Tilera's unique technology to enhance the performance and power-efficiency of standard x86 servers. TILE-IQ enables heterogeneous computing using the high-performance and scalable TILE-Gx processors together with standard x86 CPUs to accelerate systems and offload entire applications. Leveraging C/C++ programming, Intel® DPDK-compatible drivers and an industry-standard Linux environment, OEMs and network operators can deploy software-defined networking (SDN) and security functions enabling broad classes of network and compute-intensive applications, including network functions virtualization (NFV).
