LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) invites comments on the draft criteria and evaluation process for a pilot award program to recognize ICANN community participants for both multistakeholder collaboration efforts as well as years of service, according to the Corporation.

Called the ICANN Multistakeholder Ethos Awards, the pilot program will seek to recognize one to three individuals or organizations that have demonstrated service to the ICANN community as a whole. The ideal winner or winners will have served in leadership roles for multiple ICANN working groups or committees and collaborated with more than one supporting organization and/or advisory committee in a significant capacity. To be eligible, the recipient must be able to demonstrate participation in the ICANN community for at least five years total.

We propose that the current chairs of the Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees rate the nominees using a merit-based point system evaluated against three criteria:

• Demonstrated multistakeholder volunteer service via working groups or committees. (Maximum points: 10)

• Demonstrated the spirit of collaboration as shown through empathy and a sincere desire to engage with others who do not share interests or viewpoints. (Maximum points: 10)

• Demonstrated facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair, cordial and collegial manner. (Maximum points: 5)

All comments and replies will be read and considered. A final criteria for the pilot program will be published on or around 24 February when the call for nominations opens to the public.

The Multistakeholder Ethos Award pilot program was announced during the Opening Ceremony of ICANN's 48th Public Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Public Comment period is open from 6 – 27 January; the Reply period is open from 28 January – 17 February 2014.
