University of Jordan Holds a Workshop on how to Register a Patent in the Pharmaceutical Sector

AMMAN - The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan (UJ) organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Jordanian Union of the Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Appliances a workshop on how to search and register patents in the pharmaceutical sector.
According to UJ press release, the workshop addressed, during both theoretical and practical parts, methods and procedures for the registration of patents and how to coordinate between the Industrial Property Protection Directorate and the World Intellectual Property Organization, in addition to how to search for granted and valid patents and how to take advantage of patents in the industrial sector of Jordan.
Prof. Talal Aburjai, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, said the workshop aims to promote the local industry and open the door of patenting in order to enhance the pharmaceutical industry in Jordan, adding that this information is the foundation stone for the discovery and registration of medicines.
From her part, Secretary General of the Union of the Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Appliances, stressed the need for optimal utilization of resources to discover and produce drugs in cooperation with friendly sectors through the creation of a solid knowledge base for inventors, discoverers and producers of medicines as a result of holding this type of specialized workshops.
The workshop included the participation of a gathering of pharmaceutical companies of representatives, members of the Pharmacists Association, faculty members and a number of researchers and interested parties.
