Kingdom of Bahrain to Accede to Budapest Treaty

GENEVA - The Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on August 20, 2012, deposited its instrument of accession to the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done in Budapest on April 28, 1977, and amended on September 26, 1980. 

According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Contracting States which allow or require the deposit of microorganisms for the purposes of patent procedure shall recognize, for such purposes, the deposit of a microorganism with any international depositary authority. Such recognition shall include the recognition of the fact and date of the deposit as indicated by the international depositary authority as well as the recognition of the fact that what is furnished as a sample is a sample of the deposited microorganism. 

The said Treaty will enter into force, with respect to the Kingdom of Bahrain, on November 20, 2012.
